Patna: The political row in Bihar has intensified after the opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) accused the state’s Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) of misusing public funds in a departmental calendar that reportedly features photographs of minister Sanjay Singh’s family.
The RJD has alleged that the inclusion of personal images in an official government publication amounts to the misuse of state resources and raises questions over administrative propriety.
In a series of social media posts, the party claimed that photographs of the minister’s family and children had been published in the PHED calendar, and questioned the justification for their inclusion in a document produced using public money.

The party said the move represented an inappropriate use of government platforms for personal visibility, arguing that it sets a “wrong precedent” for the use of official communications and materials.
Escalating its criticism, the RJD said it was unclear whether the calendar should be seen as an official government document or as promotional material, alleging that it appeared to serve the minister’s personal image rather than departmental communication.
The opposition further argued that such incidents reflected wider concerns about governance and decision-making within the state administration, suggesting that political considerations were being placed above institutional norms.
No official response has yet been issued by minister Sanjay Singh or the state government regarding the allegations.
