Patna: In a major organisational reshuffle ahead of the upcoming Bihar assembly elections, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president Lalu Prasad has unveiled a new national team of office bearers, emphasising social balance and internal trust.
Former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi returns to the forefront as one of the four national vice presidents, alongside Jagdanand Singh, Mehboob Ali Kaiser, and Uday Narayan Chaudhary. The move signals Lalu’s confidence in long-time party loyalists, with Jagdanand Singh being reinstated despite internal tensions in recent months.
The announcement also saw Abdulbari Siddiqui appointed as principal general secretary, while Sunil Kumar Singh has taken charge as the national treasurer. The reshuffle introduces 12 general secretaries and 10 secretaries, forming a team designed to strengthen the party’s national presence and electoral strategy.
Key names among general secretaries include Jai Prakash Narayan Yadav, Bhola Yadav, Lalit Kumar Yadav, Kumar Sarvjeet, and Syed Faisal Ali. The list also features regional leaders like Abhay Singh from Jharkhand and Anu Chacko from Kerala, hinting at a broader national outreach.
Among the new secretaries are Yaduvansh Kumar Yadav, Bharat Bhushan Mandal, Santosh Kumar Jaiswal, and Sweety Seema Hembram. Several current and former MLAs, along with legislative council members, have been incorporated into the structure, aiming to bridge legislative experience with grassroots mobilisation.
The party has maintained caste and regional balance in its appointments, in line with its traditional strategy of social justice and inclusivity. With Lalu’s stamp clearly visible across the selections, the RJD’s refreshed leadership will play a pivotal role in framing its narrative and outreach for the 2025 Bihar polls.
