Vaishali: With state assembly elections looming in Bihar this October-November, a bizarre political spectacle has drawn public attention. Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Kedar Yadav sparked controversy after performing a roadside worship ritual for Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, declaring the party leader a “God” following a narrow escape from a road accident.
The incident unfolded after Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, the former Deputy Chief Minister and son of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, was returning from Madhepura late on Friday night. A vehicle in his convoy was struck by a truck on National Highway 22 near Vaishali around 1:30 am. Although Tejashwi escaped unscathed, two to three individuals — believed to be security personnel — sustained injuries. All are reported to be in stable condition following treatment.
In an extraordinary display of devotion, Kedar Yadav took to NH-77 near the accident site, where he lit incense sticks, garlanded a poster of Tejashwi Yadav, and conducted a puja ceremony on the road itself under the midday sun. Video footage that has since gone viral shows Yadav and his supporters distributing sweets and chanting prayers for Tejashwi’s long life.
“May our God Tejashwi Prasad Yadav live long,” Kedar Yadav declared during the ritual. “He narrowly escaped a road accident. In this happiness, we are worshipping Tejashwi Prasad Yadav and the Road God for his continued health and long life. He is the God of the poor.”
