Bettiah/Patna: The political feud between Paschim Champaran BJP MP Dr Sanjay Jaiswal and Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor has intensified, with Jaiswal filing a defamation suit worth Rs 125 crore against Kishor in the Bettiah Civil Court. The move follows a series of public allegations by Kishor, who accused the MP of petrol theft and manipulating a flyover’s alignment for personal gain.
According to reports, Kishor had claimed that Jaiswal altered the alignment of the Cantonment flyover in Bettiah to benefit his petrol pump and described him as a “petty-bounty leader.” The comments quickly escalated into a full-blown confrontation between the two prominent political figures in West Champaran.

Jaiswal, who previously sent a legal notice to Kishor demanding an apology, stated that the accusations were baseless and politically motivated. “These remarks have tarnished my public image and misled the people of Bettiah,” he said.
The defamation case, filed on October 4 by a legal team comprising advocates Rajesh Ranjan, Vivek Bihari, Rajan Chaturvedi, and Chandrika Prasad Kushwaha, is scheduled for hearing on October 8. The MP’s counsel has argued that Kishor’s repeated statements and poster campaigns against Jaiswal amount to deliberate defamation.
This isn’t the first legal battle Kishor has faced. Earlier, senior JD (U) leader and state minister Ashok Choudhary also filed a Rs 100 crore defamation suit against him after Kishor accused him of a Rs 200 crore scam and land fraud—charges Choudhary has denied.
