Patna: The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) Frontier Headquarters in Patna marked the 76th Republic Day with a flag-hoisting ceremony and a review of its achievements over the past year. The event took place at the Frontier Headquarters premises on Ghoddoud Road, Ashiana-Digha Road, Patna.
Nayyar Hasnain Khan, Inspector General of the Frontier, led the celebrations by hoisting the national flag and singing the national anthem alongside assembled personnel. In his address, Khan conveyed the Republic Day message of the SSB Director General, highlighting the force’s key accomplishments during 2024.
Achievements in 2024
The Inspector General detailed significant operations conducted by units under the Frontier Headquarters, Patna:
- Criminal cases: 1,828 cases registered.
- Drug seizures: 9,286 kg of ganja, 44.6 kg of hashish, 7.69 kg of opium, 2.62 kg of brown sugar, and 4,307 kg of other narcotics confiscated.
- Weapons and explosives: 21 illegal weapons, 66 other firearms, 303 cartridges, and 3 kg of explosives seized.
- Counter-narcotics: 3,136 acres of ganja and opium cultivation destroyed.
- Human trafficking: 200 young men and women rescued, and 107 traffickers arrested.
- Anti-Naxal operations: 32 wanted Naxalites arrested, and suspected Naxals surrendered.
Honours and Recognition
During the ceremony, several personnel were commended for their service:
- Four officers were awarded the Police Medal for Gallantry.
- Two officers received the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service.
- Eleven personnel were awarded the Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
- Inspector General Commendation Cards were presented to 111 officers and employees.
Attendance
The event was attended by 400 personnel, including senior officers such as Vishwajeet Kumar Pal, Deputy Inspector General; K. Ranjit, Deputy Inspector General; Abhay Prakash, Deputy Inspector General (Medical); Ashok Sajwan, Commandant; and Subroto Saha Roy, Commandant (Communication).
The SSB’s efforts to combat crime, curb drug trafficking, and counter Naxal activities were praised as a reflection of its dedication to safeguarding the nation.
