Patna: Shakuni Choudhary, father of Samrat Choudhary, expressed deep emotion and pride after his son was sworn in as chief minister of Bihar, describing the moment as the fulfilment of a long-cherished dream.
Speaking after the swearing-in ceremony, the veteran leader said his son had achieved a position that had eluded him despite decades in politics.
‘What I could not achieve’
Reflecting on his own political journey, Shakuni Choudhary said he had spent years working to strengthen social coalitions such as the ‘Luv-Kush’ equation and had played a role in the formation of parties including the Samata Party and Hindustani Awam Morcha.
“Despite all this, I could not reach the chief minister’s post. Today, it feels like that dream has been realised through my son,” he said.
Credit to leadership support
He attributed Samrat Choudhary’s rise to the trust placed in him by senior leaders, including Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and Nitish Kumar.
According to him, such responsibility is entrusted only to leaders with proven capability and strong leadership qualities.
‘Consensus reflects acceptability’
Shakuni Choudhary also highlighted the significance of consensus within the NDA alliance, noting that agreement between parties such as the BJP and JD(U) on a single name demonstrated broad political acceptability.
He said Samrat Choudhary had earned the confidence not only of his party leadership but also of alliance partners and the public.
Expectations from new leadership
Emphasising the expectations attached to the new chief minister, he said the backing of national and state leadership naturally raises hopes for effective governance.
Expressing confidence in his son’s abilities, Shakuni Choudhary said he believed Samrat would live up to these expectations as he begins his tenure at the helm of Bihar’s government.
