Sheikhpura: Sheikhpura district experienced a series of major incidents on Wednesday and Thursday, beginning with firm action taken by Superintendent of Police Baliram Kumar Chaudhary. The SP withheld the salary of the Hathiawan station in-charge and transferred nearly two dozen Assistant Sub-Inspectors within the district. According to Chaudhary, the move followed directions from the District Magistrate after a dispute reportedly occurred between the station in-charge and a senior official during the election period. Officials described the reshuffle as an attempt to restore discipline within the force.
On the same day, a heartbreaking accident was reported from West Bengal. A young man from Sheikhpura, Mohammad Raja, died after falling from a moving train near Raniganj station. Raja lived in Jamalpur with his father and sold bedsheets by hawking. Family members said he was returning from Asansol after visiting a relative. While leaning out of the train gate to spit gutkha, he lost his balance, fell onto the tracks and was subsequently struck by another train. He died on the spot.
