Siwan/Patna: Siwan district has been ranked second in Bihar for its performance in industrial development, according to an assessment by the state’s Industries Department.
Officials said the ranking was based on the implementation of schemes including the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), the Chief Minister Women Entrepreneur Scheme and other MSME-related initiatives. The achievement is being viewed as a boost to the district’s industrial profile.
Recognition at Patna workshop
The recognition was announced during a state-level workshop organised by the Bihar government’s Industries Department in Patna.
The workshop, titled “Leveraging AI for Industrial Development, Governance and Ease of Doing Business in Bihar”, brought together officials and experts from across the state. Districts and officers demonstrating strong performance were honoured during the event.
District Industries Centre official honoured
Vivek Kumar, General Manager of the District Industries Centre (DIC), Siwan, received recognition for contributions to investment promotion, entrepreneurship development and the implementation of government schemes.
According to officials, initiatives undertaken under his leadership have supported industrial activity in the district and encouraged self-employment opportunities.
Performance across multiple schemes
The district’s ranking was based on performance across several areas, including PMEGP, the PM Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PM-FME) scheme, the Chief Minister Women Entrepreneur Scheme, startup promotion, investment management and export promotion.
Departmental evaluation awarded Siwan 58 marks, placing it second in the state.
Focus on enterprises and employment
Officials said efforts are continuing to encourage the establishment of new enterprises and connect young people with self-employment opportunities.
They added that coordination between banking institutions and the Industries Department has helped improve the investment environment in the district, benefiting aspiring entrepreneurs and job seekers.
