Patna: The Central Government has approved the appointment of six Bihar cadre IPS officers to the rank of Inspector General (IG) or equivalent positions on central deputation, according to an order issued by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions.
The approval was granted by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. All six officers belong to the 2008 IPS batch and are expected to be posted in various central security and investigative agencies.
The officers selected from the Bihar cadre are Upendra Kumar Sharma, Satyaveer Singh, Vikas Burman, Natasha Guria, Kim, and Manojay Kumar.
Officers Selected for Central Responsibilities
The officers have served in several important policing and administrative roles across Bihar during their careers.
Upendra Kumar Sharma has held the position of Superintendent of Police in multiple districts. Satyaveer Singh is known within the department for his strict administrative approach and field policing experience.
Vikas Burman has worked in both operational and administrative assignments during his tenure in the state.
Among the women officers selected, Natasha Guria and Kim have handled several challenging postings in Bihar. Manojay Kumar has also served in key positions and is regarded for his administrative record.
Selection Based on Service Record
According to the Centre’s notification, 68 IPS officers from different state cadres across the country have been empanelled for appointment to IG-rank or equivalent posts.
The decision was taken after the Ministry of Home Affairs reviewed proposals and assessed the officers’ service records, experience, and administrative performance.
Officials said the empanelment enables these officers to be considered for senior-level positions in central organisations such as the Central Reserve Police Force, Border Security Force, Central Bureau of Investigation, National Investigation Agency and the Intelligence Bureau.

The announcement has been welcomed within the Bihar Police establishment, where senior officials and colleagues have congratulated the selected officers.
Department officials said the inclusion of six Bihar cadre officers in the national empanelment list reflects the growing recognition of officers from the state in policing and administrative leadership roles at the national level.
