Bhagalpur: A three-day national conference focusing on resilient soil health management and resource conservation has concluded at Bihar Agricultural University in Sabour, Bhagalpur, bringing together scientists, academicians, researchers and students from across India. The event centred on strengthening agricultural and environmental sustainability amid rising climate pressures and natural resource degradation.

The conference, jointly organised by the university and the Academy of Natural Resource Conservation and Management in Lucknow, featured technical sessions and policy discussions aimed at improving soil productivity while protecting ecological balance. Organisers said the gathering provided a platform for interdisciplinary dialogue on sustainable farming practices and innovative conservation technologies.

During the closing session, speakers emphasised the urgency of adopting resilient soil health strategies to ensure long-term food security. Dr A K Singh, president of ANRCM, highlighted the growing need for sustainable agricultural practices in the face of climate change, while Dr Sanjay Arora underscored the importance of institutional collaboration and stakeholder participation to expand the use of conservation technologies.

Organising secretary Dr Anshuman Kohli presented a summary of key deliberations and announced awards for outstanding research contributions, noting the strong participation of delegates and the quality of scientific papers presented. Chairing the session, Dr D K Sharma said research findings must be translated into practical field-level solutions to deliver tangible benefits to farmers and strengthen environmental protection.

In his valedictory address, Prof Dr D R Singh, vice-chancellor of Bihar Agricultural University, described soil health management and resource conservation as foundational to sustainable development. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr B P Mandal and a collective commitment from participants to advance resilient soil management practices and promote a more sustainable agricultural future.
