Sonam Raghuvanshi-Like Case in Bihar: Woman and Her Lover Arrested for Killing Husband After 8-Year Affair

Dehri/Patna: In a chilling case of betrayal and premeditated murder, a woman and her lover have been arrested for allegedly strangling her husband to death in Dehri, a town in Bihar’s Rohtas district. Police say the motive behind the crime was the exposure of an eight-year-long extramarital affair.
According to Rohtas Superintendent of Police Roshan Kumar, the woman’s husband had recently discovered her relationship with another man. After confronting her and informing his family, tensions escalated within the household.
Police allege that, enraged by the confrontation and perceived humiliation, the woman and her lover conspired to kill her husband. The lover, who had been living in Kolkata, returned to Dehri with an accomplice on the night of June 22. That evening, after the family had gone to bed, the woman is said to have allowed both men into the house, where they strangled the husband to death in his room.
The couple’s son, sleeping in an adjacent room, reportedly awoke during the incident and alerted police. As the accused attempted to flee, one of them leapt from the rooftop in a failed escape. Local residents apprehended him, and police arrested all three suspects—the wife, her lover, and his associate—at the scene. The weapon used in the murder has been seized, and further investigation is ongoing.
“This case is rooted in a love affair,” SP Kumar said. “When the husband found out, the wife and her lover plotted his murder. All three have been arrested.”
