Patna: The Bihar government has welcomed the central government’s new Employment Linked Incentive (ELI) Scheme. Bihar Labour Resources Minister Santosh Kumar Singh said this scheme will create many jobs and give social security to workers. He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said this scheme will be very helpful for people from Bihar who work in different parts of the country as labourers.
The minister said this scheme will help in setting up industries in Bihar, especially in food processing and agriculture. He explained that many factories can come up in villages, which will give jobs to local people. Singh also said that broken rice, which is usually fed to animals, can be used commercially to develop industries in Bihar. He urged all industrialists to come and invest in Bihar, as the state has good roads, airports, and many hardworking people ready to work.
The ELI scheme aims to create more than 3.5 crore jobs in India from August 2025 to July 2027. It has a budget of Rs 99,446 crore and will be run through EPFO. Under this scheme, employees will get social security, on-job training, skill development, and financial literacy training. Employees must work for at least six months to continue getting these benefits. The scheme also helps employers by giving them some money back for creating new jobs, making it attractive for them to hire more people.
The minister said employees will need to link their Aadhaar with UAN and use Face Authentication Technology to get the benefits. They also have to complete financial literacy courses to get the second payment. Singh said the Bihar government will make sure this scheme reaches every district, bringing big changes in jobs and social security in the state.
