Patna: A SpiceJet flight (SG 729) from Patna to Delhi was delayed on Tuesday due to a technical fault in the engine, causing significant inconvenience to passengers. The issue was detected before takeoff, prompting the safe evacuation of all 185 passengers to the arrival hall.
Frustrated by the delay, several passengers demanded an alternative flight, leading to heated exchanges with airline staff. As tensions escalated, CISF personnel intervened to calm the situation.
SpiceJet’s technical team worked for nearly three hours to rectify the engine fault, after which the aircraft was cleared for departure. The flight, originally scheduled to depart earlier, finally took off for Delhi at 1:24 pm, delayed by 2 hours and 24 minutes. Nine passengers chose to cancel their tickets, while 176 boarded the rescheduled flight.
Passengers had to endure a three-and-a-half-hour wait at Patna airport, causing widespread frustration. However, with the intervention of airline staff and security personnel, the situation was brought under control, and the flight eventually departed without further complications.
