Siwan: A peaceful day in Siwan suddenly turned into a scene of fear and sorrow when a powerful explosion rocked the area during Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s development visit. The blast happened only a short distance away from the place where the chief minister was scheduled to attend public programmes. The loud sound of the explosion was heard several kilometres away, and people rushed out of their homes in panic. Many thought it was a major accident or even an attack, as smoke filled the sky and confusion spread quickly.
Initial investigations by the police revealed that the explosion was caused by the illegal manufacturing of firecrackers. Authorities found broken and burnt firecracker materials at the spot, clearly showing that dangerous chemicals were being used without any safety measures. These illegal units often operate secretly in residential areas, putting many innocent lives in danger. Officials said that negligence and the complete absence of safety rules were the main reasons behind the deadly blast.
One person lost their life in this tragic incident, while several others were badly injured. The injured were immediately taken to nearby hospitals, where doctors said that some of them were in serious condition. There are fears that the number of deaths could rise. The explosion was so strong that it damaged many nearby houses, breaking walls and roofs. Several families were forced to leave their homes and take shelter elsewhere, as their houses were no longer safe to live in.
Soon after the incident, police, fire brigade and rescue teams reached the spot and secured the area. The entire location was sealed off to prevent further harm, and an investigation has begun to find out who was running the illegal firecracker unit. At the same time, tight security was already in place in Siwan because Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was visiting the district to launch and lay the foundation stone for 71 development projects worth Rs 201.83 crore. The city had been decorated and heavy police deployment was arranged for his visit.
However, the blast has raised serious questions about the government’s control over illegal activities and public safety. While big development projects are being announced, incidents like this show that strict action against unsafe and unlawful businesses is still urgently needed. Local people are now demanding justice for the victims and strong steps to make sure that such dangerous accidents do not happen again in the future.
