State-of-the-Art Sports Academy to Open in Rajgir on August 29
Rajgir: The players of Bihar are soon set to receive a significant boost with the inauguration of a new sports academy equipped with modern facilities. Scheduled to open on August 29, National Sports Day, the academy will be a pivotal development for sports in the state.
Ravindran Shankaran, Director General of the Bihar State Sports Authority, announced the inauguration and revealed that a sports award ceremony would also be held on the same day. Registration for the ceremony is now open.
Shankaran highlighted that the academy marks the first of its kind in Bihar, offering a new avenue for the state’s athletes to pursue a promising future in sports. The academy includes a library and a swimming pool, both segmented into six blocks. Additionally, a massive international cricket stadium is under construction. Spanning 90 acres and costing Rs 741 crore, the stadium will have a seating capacity of 40,000.
The international stadium will not only host cricket but will also facilitate various other sports. The campus will feature a large and a small stadium, a hospital, a motivation center, reverse pavilion G+2, pavilion G+5, vehicle stand G+2, football field toilets, basketball courts, a diving pool, six sports halls, 45 accommodation rooms, a 1,500-seat hall, an open swimming pool, two volleyball courts, and five multipurpose halls.
In conjunction with the inauguration, a Khel Samman ceremony will be held to honor athletes. Eligible participants can register for the awards until 7 pm on July 31, 2024. The registration portal allows athletes, coaches, sports associations, and sports officers to apply for selection. The list of selected awardees will be published on the portal.
