Gayaji: The Vande Bharat Express, India’s premium semi-high-speed train, was once again targeted by stone-pelters in Bihar on Wednesday evening, prompting concerns over recurring security breaches. The incident occurred between Kastha station and the Gayaji West cabin, shattering the engine’s glass and causing panic among passengers.
Train number 20888, running from Varanasi to Ranchi, was hit while passing through Gaya district. Fortunately, no passengers were injured. The pilot, S.K. Sinha, co-pilot Sudhir Kumar, and guard Sudarshan Kumar promptly reported the incident to the railway administration.
Following the attack, senior railway officials, including the Principal Chief Security Commissioner of East Central Railway and RPF IG Amresh Kumar, reached the site. Kumar condemned the act and assured that the accused would be identified and prosecuted. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has launched an investigation and search operation.
This is not an isolated case. Multiple incidents of stone pelting on Vande Bharat trains have been reported in Bihar in recent months. These attacks not only pose serious threats to passenger safety but also result in damage to expensive railway infrastructure.
In response, the railway administration has appealed to citizens to report any suspicious activity or stone pelting incidents via the nearest railway officer or helpline number to help maintain safe and secure train travel.
