Patna: A 25-year-old student from Begusarai was found dead by suicide in Patna on Thursday evening, after neighbours reported a foul smell coming from his locked room. The student, identified as Dev Kumar, was living in a rented room near Gandhi Chowk on Ashoka Rajpath in the Pirbahor police station area.
According to police reports, Dev Kumar had not emerged from his room for two days. Concerned neighbours alerted authorities after failing to reach him. Officers from Pirbahor police station arrived at the scene and found the door locked from the inside. Upon breaking it open, they discovered Kumar’s body hanging from the ceiling.
The police have confirmed that no suicide note was recovered from the scene. The body was sent for postmortem, and the student’s family has been informed of the incident.
Pirbahor police station in-charge stated that an investigation is underway to determine the cause of death, although initial findings suggest suicide. Dev Kumar was reportedly pursuing his studies in Patna and living alone.
