Patna: The Special Vigilance Unit (SVU) on Friday carried out raids at three locations linked to Jehanabad Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sanjeev Kumar in connection with a disproportionate assets case. The searches were conducted simultaneously at his bungalow in Patna, his official residence in Jehanabad, and a hospital building he owns in Khagaria.
According to SVU sources, Kumar is accused of amassing assets worth Rs 1.52 crore, allegedly far exceeding his known sources of income. An FIR has been registered in Jehanabad, and officials say the action follows the collection of substantial evidence and the securing of a court-issued search warrant.
In Khagaria, raids began around 8am at Nectar Hospital, a multi-storey building owned by Kumar and rented out to a private operator. Patients were reportedly receiving treatment as a team of around 10 SVU officers arrived in multiple vehicles.
At Kumar’s official residence in Gandhi Maidan, Jehanabad, a team of 10 to 15 officers reached around the same time, with police posted outside during the search. Meanwhile, another SVU unit arrived at his Ashiana Road bungalow in Patna at about 7.30am to begin proceedings.
