Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary on Sunday laid the foundation stone for a Technology Centre worth Rs 170 crore in Gaya, a project expected to become a major hub for technical training and industrial development in eastern India.
The centre will provide advanced skill training to thousands of young people every year and support the state’s efforts to strengthen employment and entrepreneurship opportunities.
Rs 170 Crore Project to Focus on Infrastructure and Training
Officials said the project will be developed at a cost of Rs 170 crore. Of the total amount, around Rs 86 crore will be spent on construction of the facility, while nearly Rs 84 crore will be used to install modern training machinery and equipment.
The Technology Centre is expected to train about 10,000 students and youths annually in various technical disciplines, helping improve their employability and promoting self-employment opportunities.
Centre Will Benefit Youth Across Eastern India: Manjhi
Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi said the project would serve not only Gaya but also the wider population of Bihar and eastern India.
He said the facility would equip young people with industry-relevant technical skills and encourage entrepreneurship. According to him, the centre is also expected to generate local employment and contribute to industrial growth in the region.
Falgu River Revival, International Stadium Announced
Addressing the gathering, Samrat Chaudhary announced two additional projects for Gaya.
The Chief Minister said the state government plans to bring water from the Indrapuri region of Jharkhand and channel it into the Falgu River in an effort to restore its perennial flow.
He also announced the construction of an international-standard stadium on nearly 60 acres of land located adjacent to the proposed Technology Centre campus.
Government Aims to Reduce Dependence on Coaching Centres
During his speech, the Chief Minister also spoke about the state’s education system and the growing dependence on private coaching institutes.
He said the government is working to ensure that schools themselves provide all necessary educational facilities so that students do not have to rely heavily on coaching centres. He added that efforts are underway to improve school infrastructure and academic standards across Bihar.
The Chief Minister further reiterated the government’s commitment to opening degree colleges in every block of the state, aiming to expand access to higher education.
