Patna: Amid a worsening crisis within the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) following its heavy defeat in the Bihar Assembly elections, Tej Pratap Yadav has issued a fiery denunciation of those he labelled “Jaichands”, invoking betrayal as his family’s internal rift spills into public view.
The party, once the largest political force in Bihar, has been reduced to just 25 seats. The setback has triggered discontent across its ranks and deepened fractures within the Lalu Prasad family. Rohini Acharya, daughter of the RJD chief and known for donating a kidney to her father, has resigned from both the party and the family. She has levelled allegations against Tejashwi Prasad Yadav and close associates Sanjay and Rameez. Her departure comes weeks after Tej Pratap himself was sidelined from party affairs.
Tej Pratap responded sharply to Rohini’s ouster, publishing an emotional message on the Instagram of the Janshakti Janata Dal. “Yesterday’s incident has shaken my heart to the core,” he wrote. “I tolerated what happened to me, but the insult to my sister is unbearable under any circumstances.”
Referring to reports that Rohini had been “picked up by her slippers”, he said the episode had left him “burning with anger”. He accused unnamed figures of clouding Tejashwi Yadav’s judgement, warning that “the consequences of this injustice will be extremely dire” and that “the reckoning of time is very harsh”.
In a direct appeal to Lalu Prasad, Tej Pratap framed the conflict as a battle for family dignity rather than party politics. “Father, give me a signal,” he wrote. “Just one gesture from you, and the people of Bihar will bury these Jaichands in the ground themselves. This fight is for the honour of a family, the dignity of a daughter, and the self-respect of Bihar.”
His post, signed “a son and a brother”, marks the latest escalation in a political and familial fracture that threatens to further weaken the RJD at a moment of vulnerability.
