Patna: Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Sunday accused the Bihar government of failing to act against influential officials allegedly linked to the Rishu Shree case and an alleged tender scam, claiming that the investigation had not reached those he described as the principal beneficiaries.
Addressing a press conference in Patna, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader alleged that corruption in the state had reached unprecedented levels and questioned the scope of the investigation despite the filing of a charge sheet in the case.
Raises 20 Questions
Tejashwi said he had placed 20 questions before the Samrat Choudhary-led government, demanding what he described as a transparent and impartial investigation into the alleged irregularities.
He alleged that action was being taken primarily against lower-ranking officials while those occupying influential positions within the administration had escaped scrutiny.
The RJD leader further claimed that officials belonging to the Extremely Backward Classes (EBC) were being disproportionately targeted, while senior officers accused of wrongdoing continued to enjoy political protection. He did not provide evidence for the allegation during the press conference.
Questions Investigation
Describing the Rishu Shree case as evidence of what he called “organised corruption” in Bihar, Tejashwi alleged that investigations into major scams routinely stopped at lower-level functionaries.
He questioned why, if the investigation had been completed, senior officials whom he claimed had earlier faced suspension had not been named in the charge sheet or arrested.
Tejashwi also alleged that the state’s investigative agencies were failing to pursue influential individuals connected to major corruption cases.
Criticism Of Government’s Economic Management
The opposition leader also criticised the NDA government’s handling of Bihar’s finances.
He alleged that the state’s debt burden was increasing, the treasury was under strain and delays were occurring in the payment of government employees’ salaries. He further claimed that corruption had contributed to the misuse of public resources.
The Bihar government has not publicly responded to these allegations.

Calls For Public Answers
During the press conference, Tejashwi also criticised Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, alleging that officials with controversial records continued to hold influential positions within the administration.
He urged the government to publicly respond to the 20 questions he had raised regarding the Rishu Shree case and the alleged tender scam.
Tejashwi alleged that, instead of addressing the issues raised by the opposition, the government was attempting to suppress information related to the case. The allegations made by the RJD leader have not been independently verified.
