Patna: A burglary at two adjacent flats in Patna’s PC Colony has resulted in losses exceeding Rs 40 lakh, with thieves making off with jewellery, cash, and electronic items. The incident took place in flats located on the ground floor of house number B-126, under the jurisdiction of Kankarbagh police station.

Rupesh Singh, one of the victims, had left for his native village on Saturday afternoon after locking his flat. His neighbour, Rajiv Ranjan, locked his adjoining flat and left for work later that night. The break-in was discovered several days later through a delayed CCTV notification.

Rupesh had installed surveillance cameras at his flat, which are connected to his phone. However, due to power and network issues in his village, he did not receive any alerts for a few days. It was only on Wednesday afternoon, while visiting the Supaul district headquarters, that he received a notification from the camera feed in his Patna flat.

Alerted by the unusual activity, he contacted Rajiv Ranjan, who reviewed the CCTV footage and spotted two men inside the premises—one wielding a hammer, the other using a mobile flashlight to navigate. he immediately asked his family to check the flat.

Upon arrival, family members and Rajiv Ranjan found the main gate locked. They entered the property by crossing the boundary wall and discovered the lock on the door broken and the rooms ransacked.

Rupesh reported that valuables worth approximately Rs 30 lakh, including jewellery, a laptop, and Rs 10,000 in cash, had been stolen. From Ranjan’s flat, over Rs 10 lakh in cash and other items were also missing.
