Tourism Minister Nitish Mishra Lays Foundation for New Yatri Niwas in Sonpur

Sonepur: Bihar’s tourism infrastructure received a boost on Saturday as Nitish Mishra, the state’s Minister for Tourism and Industry, laid the foundation stone for a new Yatri Niwas at Kalighat (Dhanush Kutir Ashram) in Sonpur. The facility, intended to enhance amenities for visiting tourists, will replace the current structure, which has been deemed too small and in a state of disrepair.

The new Yatri Niwas, set to be a four-storey facility, is being constructed at a cost of Rs. 4.98 crore. According to the project plan, the ground floor will feature a hall, while the first and second floors will each include dormitories for male and female tourists. The third floor will house eight rooms along with toilets. Each floor will have a built-up area of approximately 2,800 square feet.

Minister Mishra highlighted the importance of the project, stating that the upgraded Yatri Niwas would significantly improve the experience of tourists visiting Sonpur, a town known for its historical and cultural significance.

Local MLA Ramanuj Prasad and MP representative Rakesh Singh attended the ceremony, along with senior officials from the Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation, including Managing Director Nand Kishore, General Manager (Planning and Development) Abhijeet Kumar, and Chief Engineer Ashok Kumar.

The project reflects the Bihar government’s ongoing efforts to bolster tourism infrastructure and cater to the growing influx of visitors to the state’s heritage and religious sites.
