Gopalganj: A village in Bihar’s Gopalganj district is mourning the deaths of two young people whose love story ended in tragedy. On Wednesday evening, a young woman was found hanging from a fan inside her house in Shahpur Batraha Tola Takiya village. Her family says she was killed by her boyfriend and his relatives because she wanted to marry him.
Police arrived at the scene soon after the girl’s body was found and sent her for a postmortem. Villagers say the young woman had been asking her boyfriend to marry her for some time. While her family claims she was murdered, some neighbours quietly believe she may have taken her own life.
The shock deepened when, just ten hours later, the boyfriend’s body was found hanging from a window at his uncle’s house nearby. His family says he was murdered by the girl’s relatives as revenge for her death. They say he was killed and then hanged to make it look like suicide.
Police have launched a serious investigation into both deaths. Sripur police station in-charge Neha Kumari said statements from both families are being taken and postmortem reports will help reveal the truth. The village remains tense as the families accuse each other and wait for answers.
