Patna/Ratlam: A Bihar Special Task Force (STF) team en route to Gujarat for a high-priority operation met with a tragic accident on the Delhi–Mumbai eight-lane expressway in Madhya Pradesh’s Ratlam district late Monday night. The mishap claimed the lives of Sub Inspector Mukund Murari and Constable Vikas Kumar, who died on the spot.
According to Ratlam Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar, the team’s vehicle was reportedly travelling at high speed when it lost control and overturned near Ratlam. Four other personnel — Sub Inspector Santosh Kumar and Constables Jeevdhari Kumar, Mithilesh Paswan, and Ranjan Kumar — were injured in the crash. One of them is in critical condition and has been referred to a hospital in Indore for advanced treatment.
The injured were first rushed to the Government Medical College Hospital in Ratlam, where emergency medical teams administered care. Senior police officials including Ratlam SP Amit Kumar and ASP Rakesh Khakha visited the site to assess the situation and monitor the rescue operations.
The STF team was reportedly deployed for a “special operation” in Gujarat, though officials have not disclosed the nature of the mission. Bihar Police officials have been informed, and efforts are underway to coordinate with Madhya Pradesh authorities for the repatriation of the deceased and further treatment of the injured.
The state government is expected to announce compensation for the families of the deceased officers.
