Two Children Killed, Two Injured in Devastating Hut Fire in Patna’s Gaurichak Area

Patna : Two children were killed and two others injured after a fire engulfed a hut late at night in the Gaurichak area of Patna. The fire, which broke out near Janakpur turn, quickly spread to two adjacent huts, leaving the victims with nothing but ashes.

The deceased have been identified as Sunny Kumar, aged eight, and Aditya Kumar, aged four. Their grieving families, who had been living in makeshift huts for years, recounted the harrowing experience.

No One Came to Help

Sudhir Nat and Vijendra Nat, whose families were affected, said they were asleep when the fire erupted. “The flames spread within minutes. People ran to save their lives, but no one came to help us,” one of the victims said. “Everything is gone. We have not received any assistance from the authorities so far.”

The families are now left without shelter, belongings, or support. Despite their pleas, no government aid has yet been extended.

Fire Brought Under Control After Hours

Three fire brigade vehicles were dispatched to the scene and managed to bring the blaze under control after several hours. Police and fire officials arrived shortly after being alerted, but by then, the damage was extensive.

Cause of Fire Under Investigation

Gaurichak police station in-charge Arun Kumar stated that an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire. Initial suspicions suggest it may have been caused by embers left behind in the stove after cooking. However, Kumar noted that the exact cause would be confirmed only after a thorough inquiry.

The charred remains of the hut have been reduced to ashes, and the bodies of the deceased have been sent to Nalanda Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem examination.
