Union Budget 2024: Vishnupad and Mahabodhi Temples Set for Corridor Development

Gaya: In the Union Budget 2024, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced significant development plans for Bihar’s spiritual and historical sites. On Tuesday, she revealed that the Vishnupad Temple corridor in Gaya and the Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya will be developed into major corridors, while the ancient city of Nalanda will be transformed into a world-class pilgrimage and tourist destination.

The development approach will mirror the Kashi Vishwanath temple corridor project in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. Sitharaman emphasized the immense spiritual significance of both temples, which are key religious landmarks in India.

In addition to these projects, the budget includes comprehensive initiatives to enhance the spiritual city of Rajgir in Bihar. The Finance Minister highlighted Rajgir’s religious importance to Hindus, Jains, and Buddhists, indicating a broad, inclusive development strategy for the city.

The government also plans to support the development of Nalanda as a tourist hub, with efforts to revive Nalanda University to its historic grandeur.

These measures are expected to not only preserve and enhance the spiritual heritage of Bihar but also boost tourism and local economies, drawing more visitors to the region.
