Patna: Bihar’s young cricket sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi is set to begin a new chapter in his career after being named in the India-A squad for the upcoming Tri-Nation Series in Sri Lanka.
The call-up comes shortly after the conclusion of a memorable IPL season with Rajasthan Royals, where the 15-year-old batter emerged as one of the tournament’s most talked-about performers.
India-A Assignment Begins in June
The Tri-Nation Series will be held in Dambulla and will feature India-A, Sri Lanka-A and Afghanistan-A. The tournament will be played in the 50-over format and is considered an important development platform for emerging cricketers.
India-A will be led by Tilak Varma, while Riyan Parag has been named vice-captain. Suryavanshi is among the prominent young players selected for the squad.
India-A will open its campaign against Sri Lanka-A on June 9, followed by matches against Afghanistan-A on June 11, Sri Lanka-A on June 15 and Afghanistan-A on June 17. The final is scheduled for June 21. All matches will begin at 11 am IST.

Breakthrough IPL Campaign
Although Rajasthan Royals fell short of reaching the final after losing to the Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 2, Suryavanshi’s performances remained a major talking point throughout the season.
The young batter earned praise for his fearless approach against experienced international bowlers and quickly established himself as one of the most exciting emerging talents in Indian cricket.
According to season statistics, Suryavanshi scored 776 runs in 16 matches at a strike rate of 237.30. His campaign included one century and five half-centuries.
He also delivered crucial performances during the closing stages of the tournament, including a 97-run innings against Sunrisers Hyderabad and 96 runs against Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 2.
From Bihar to the National Stage
Suryavanshi’s rise has attracted attention across Indian cricket. The Bihar batter first came into the spotlight when he made his Ranji Trophy debut at the age of 12.
He later strengthened his reputation by scoring a century for the India Under-19 team against Australia, underlining his potential at the national level.
The India-A squad for the Sri Lanka tour also includes Priyansh Arya, Ayush Badoni, Nishant Sindhu, Suryansh Shedge, Prabhsimran Singh, Kumar Kushagra, Vipraj Nigam, Yash Thakur, Yudhvir Singh, Arshad Khan, Anshul Kamboj and Anukul Roy.
