Patna : The Vande Bharat Express was once again targeted by stone-pelters on Monday, as a window of the high-speed train was shattered while it travelled through eastern India. The incident occurred near Pinargadia, between Rampurhat and Dumka stations, on the Howrah–Bhagalpur route. No injuries were reported.
According to railway officials, the train’s guard and driver reported the damage upon arrival in Bhagalpur. The window was fitted with reinforced glass designed to withstand impact, suggesting the stone was thrown with considerable force.
According to media Reports, this marks the fifth such attack on the Vande Bharat Express in the last four months. A similar incident on December 4 resulted in the complete shattering of a coach window on the same route. Following that episode, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) launched an awareness campaign in local villages, warning residents of the legal consequences of such actions.
Despite these efforts, the attacks have continued, raising renewed concerns over the safety of passengers and the security arrangements in place.
Monday’s incident comes just two days after another case of stone-pelting near Bhikhanpur Gumti No. 12 on a rack train running between Bhagalpur and Sabaur. In that attack, the train manager sustained a serious head injury, and rail services were temporarily disrupted.
There has been no official comment from Indian Railways regarding the latest incident.
