Vice President Pays Tribute to Karpoori Thakur’s Legacy in Samastipur
Samastipur: Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar attended the 101st birth anniversary of former Chief Minister Karpoori Thakur at Karpurigram District Memorial Bhawan. Accompanied by Union Ministers Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Nityanand Rai, along with local MP Shambhavi Chaudhary, he paid tribute to Thakur and addressed a gathering emphasizing his contributions to society.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar arrived at the venue after the Vice President’s departure due to prior commitments in Patna. Accompanied by Bihar Minister Vijay Chaudhary, Nitish touched the feet of an elderly man near the interfaith prayer meeting, greeted the priest Pandit Ramanand Jha, and sought blessings before leaving.
During his address, the Vice President lauded Karpoori Thakur, stating his life was dedicated to public service and social welfare. He highlighted Thakur’s legacy as a leader of the people and his contributions to India’s independence movement. Dhankhar also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, attributing Bihar’s significant development in the last decade to his leadership.
Dhankhar urged the youth to seize opportunities created by government schemes and policies, envisioning India as a developed nation and global leader by 2047. He also planted Rudraksh and Sandalwood trees and inspected a replica hut resembling Thakur’s modest dwelling, built to preserve his memory.
Governor Arif Mohammad Khan welcomed the Vice President at Jayaprakash Narayan International Airport in Patna before his departure for Samastipur, marking the beginning of the commemorative events.
