Khagaria: A Sub-Inspector (SI) and a police guard at the Nagar police station in Khagaria district were caught red-handed on Tuesday by a vigilance team while accepting a bribe of Rs20,000. SI Seema Kumari and police guard Veeru Paswan were arrested following a complaint from a local resident.
According to Vigilance DSP Arunoday Pandey, the action was initiated after Anil Kumar Sah of Rajajan village filed a complaint with the Vigilance Investigation Bureau. Sah alleged that a bribe was being demanded from him to expedite the investigation of case number 520/2025, which was registered at the Nagar police station.
The vigilance team verified the complaint on Monday, confirming the bribery demand. On Tuesday, a plan was executed, and the SI and the guard were arrested with the bribe money in hand. The arrests have caused a stir among police officers in the district.
Following the arrests, the vigilance team took the two accused to the circuit house to complete legal procedures before transporting them to Patna. The team involved in the operation included DSP Pawan Kumar, Inspector Jahangir Ansari, ASI Shashikant, and lady constable Ahilya Kumari, among others.
