Patna: Vijay Kumar Sinha, the deputy chief minister of Bihar and minister for revenue and land reforms, has set a target of December 2027 to complete the state’s ongoing land survey, a move the government says will help resolve long-standing land disputes and bring greater transparency to land ownership records.
Sinha said the completion of the special land survey and settlement process was a top priority for the state government. Once finished, the exercise is expected to update land records across Bihar, making ownership details clearer and helping to reduce conflicts related to property.
A review meeting with senior officials has been scheduled for March 13 to assess the progress of the survey work. According to officials, the meeting will examine the pace of the exercise and identify challenges that could delay its completion. A letter regarding the meeting has been issued by Suharsh Bhagat, director of the Directorate of Land Records and Survey.
The deputy chief minister also warned government staff against obstructing the process. A strike by zonal officers, revenue officers and other revenue department employees has reportedly affected the progress of the survey in some areas.
Sinha urged officials and employees to take responsibility and ensure the work continues on schedule. “Only those who work will be respected,” he said, adding that attempts to disrupt the process through political pressure or threats against officials would be identified and action would be taken.
He also asserted that the ruling NDA government remained committed to completing the project and maintaining administrative continuity in the state.
