Patna: Lord Vishwakarma, regarded in religious traditions as the divine architect, will be worshipped on Thursday on the occasion of Bhadrapada Shukla Shashthi, with Sarvartha Siddhi and Ravi Yoga also prevailing during the day.
Factories, garages, companies, hardware establishments, motor vehicle and bicycle shops, workshops and other institutions associated with construction and craftsmanship will conduct special worship. Machinery, tools and equipment will be cleaned before the rituals, followed by the consecration and worship of Lord Vishwakarma idols.
Kanya Sankranti And Vishwakarma Puja
Astrologer Pandit Ritish Narayan said Kanya Sankranti occurs when the Sun enters the Virgo (Kanya) zodiac sign.
Pandit Narayan said the Sun will enter Virgo at 11:31pm on September 17. The Anuradha Nakshatra will prevail until 8:41pm on Thursday, after which Jyeshtha Nakshatra will begin.
The combination of Sarvartha Siddhi and Ravi Yoga will also remain in effect until 8:41pm.
Panchadev Worship
Along with Lord Vishwakarma, worship will also be offered to the Panchadev — Lord Vishnu, Lord Ganesha along with the Kalash, the Navagraha, Goddess Bhagwati and Lord Mahadev.
According to religious beliefs, Vishwakarma is the architect of the gods and the presiding deity of construction and craftsmanship. He is traditionally associated with the construction of divine abodes, cities and weapons.
Festival Celebrates Craftsmanship And Labour
Vishwakarma Puja holds particular significance for artists, weavers, craftspeople, engineers, artisans and members of the trading community.
Religious traditions also associate Vishwakarma’s craftsmanship with the architectural tradition of the Jagannath Temple. As a result, the festival is regarded not only as an occasion to worship machinery and tools but also as a celebration of labour, creativity and construction skills.
