Voter Awareness Program Empowers Young Women at Magadh Mahila College for Active Participation

Patna: Magadh Mahila College in Patna hosted a state-level voter awareness program on Saturday aligning with the special summary revision ahead of 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The initiative aimed to encourage the active involvement of young women voters in the electoral process. The event featured H.R. Srinivas, Chief Electoral Officer of Bihar, as the chief guest, and Maithili Thakur, Bihar State SVEEP Icon, as the special guest.

Thakur, renowned for her cultural contributions, presented a program through the Election Literacy Club at Magadh Mahila College, motivating young women voters to register on the electoral list and play a pivotal role in shaping the democratic process.

College students actively engaged in the program, seeking information on various aspects of the election process and registration from Chief Electoral Officer,  Srinivas. The distinguished gathering included Deputy Development Commissioner Patna, Tanay Sultania, Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Sanjay Mishra, Professor Dr. Namita Kumari, Principal of Magadh Mahila College, Professor of Chemistry Department Dr. SD Yadav, Deputy Election Officer Ashutosh Rai, and SVEEP Nodal Officer of the Election Department Kapil Sharma.

Professors and students from all departments of Magadh Mahila College attended the program alongside Under Election Officer Divyanshi Srivastava. The interactive session provided a platform for participants to gain insights into the electoral procedures and the significance of their active involvement in the democratic process.

Following the directives of the Election Commission of India, the special summary revision period is set from October 27, 2023, to December 9, 2023. Online registration is facilitated through the link https://voters.eci.gov.in/, as outlined by the Election Commission. The program exemplified a commitment to fostering awareness and encouraging citizens, particularly young women, to actively participate in the electoral process.
