Patna:A health awareness programme called “Walk for Life: Diabetes and Lifestyle” was held on June 10 in the Gonawan slum near Patel Path, Patna. The event was organised by the Aastha Foundation to spread information about diabetes and the importance of a healthy lifestyle.
Dr Diwakar Tejaswi, Senior Physician and Medical Director of PAHAL, spoke to the people about the symptoms of diabetes, such as weakness, frequent urination, excessive thirst, and slow healing of wounds. He said that diabetes is not just a disease, but a result of poor lifestyle choices. If not treated properly, it can also lead to kidney problems.
Dr Tejaswi also warned people about the rise in COVID-19 cases in the country. He requested everyone to wear masks, avoid crowds, and keep washing their hands regularly to stay safe from infection.
The event was supported by Purushottam Singh from Aastha Foundation and Dharmendra Kumar from PAHAL. Both helped in spreading awareness among the slum residents. The goal of the campaign was to ensure that even the poorest sections of society get access to important health information.
