West Champaran: Two young men have been killed and three others seriously injured in two separate road accidents late on Tuesday night in the Majhaulia police station area of West Champaran district, Bihar. The incidents, which occurred within hours of each other, have sent shockwaves through the local community.
Police said both victims died at the scene. Their bodies have been sent to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Bettiah for postmortem examinations. The vehicles involved a truck and a bus have been seized, and a formal investigation has been launched. The injured are receiving treatment at a nearby primary health centre.
The first crash took place in Bakhariya Mushahari Tola ward under Majhaulia police station limits. According to police officials, 28-year-old Kundan Manjhi was struck by a speeding truck and died on the spot. Three others identified as Sunil Manjhi, Chhotu Kumar and Sipahi Kumar were critically injured. Local residents rushed them to hospital before emergency services arrived.
In a separate incident on the Motihari Bettiah main road near Tharesari Chowk, a bus travelling at high speed collided with a motorcycle, killing the rider instantly. Authorities are examining whether overspeeding or negligence contributed to the fatal crashes. Further details are expected as the investigation progresses.
