Patna: In the run up to the Nagi Bird Festival and International Bird Workshop scheduled from February 5 to 7, 2024, a vibrant car rally was flagged off by Bandana Preyashi, Secretary (environment, forest and climate change) on Saturday at gate number- 2 of Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park, commonly known as Patna Zoo. The event, organized under the auspices of the Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Department of Bihar, aims to raise awareness about bird protection.
The rally, featuring 12 cars with over 25 enthusiastic participants, commenced its journey from gate number- 2 of Patna Zoo. Each car displayed eye-catching posters and banners advocating bird conservation, showcasing the participants’ commitment to the cause.
The route of the car rally spans approximately 250 kilometers, leading from Patna to Nagi-Nakti Bird Sanctuary situated in Jhajha, Jamui. The initiative seeks to draw attention to the significance of preserving avian species and their habitats.
Prabhat Kamar Gupta, Principal Chief Forest Conservator-cum-Chief Wildlife Warden of Bihar, Abhay Kumar, Director of Ecology and Environment, Bihar, Satyajit Kumar, Zoo Director, and several other senior officials were present at the flag-off ceremony.
In conjunction with the car rally, various programs were organized in the Patna Zoo Education Hall, bringing together researchers and students from Bihar. Environment Secretary Bandana Preyashi graced the occasion, witnessing the engagement of participants in activities aimed at fostering bird conservation awareness. The collective efforts aim to contribute to the success of the upcoming Nagi Bird Festival and International Bird Workshop.
