Patna: Voting is underway for the first phase of the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, covering 121 constituencies across 18 districts. As of 9 am, the state recorded a voter turnout of 13.13%, with Saharsa district leading in polling percentages.
In this crucial phase, the fate of several political heavyweights will be sealed in the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). Among the prominent candidates in the fray are Tejashwi Yadav, Tej Pratap Yadav, Anant Singh, Maithili Thakur, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sinha, along with 16 ministers from the Nitish Kumar-led government.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has deployed extensive security arrangements to ensure peaceful and fair voting. Over 1,314 candidates are contesting in this phase, which will set the tone for the subsequent rounds of polling in the state.
Voting began early this morning and will continue until evening, with reports of enthusiastic participation from rural and semi-urban areas despite tight security checks.
