Patna: A 14-year-old boy died late on Monday at a private hospital in Patna after receiving 12 blood transfusions, sparking anger among relatives and local residents.
The boy, Aditya Kumar, from Sandalpur, was admitted on Sunday after developing a mild fever. According to his family, he was able to walk into the hospital himself and his condition did not appear serious at the time. Doctors at the facility allegedly diagnosed him with dengue and reported a sharp drop in platelet count, leading them to demand multiple transfusions.
His maternal uncle, Sikandar Kumar, said he arranged and donated 12 bottles of blood over two days, but on Monday evening the family were told that Aditya had died. “He was not critical when we brought him here. They kept asking for blood, and suddenly we were told he was gone,” he said.
The news of the death triggered outrage among relatives and neighbours, who gathered at the hospital. Witnesses said medical staff and doctors fled the building as tensions rose. Police from Kadamkuan station were called in and managed to calm the situation.
