Motihari: The Motihari Cyber Police Station has arrested four cyber criminals in Champaran, Bihar, who were reportedly receiving training in fraudulent techniques from a Pakistani operative via WhatsApp.

According to Cyber DSP Abhinav Parashar, the investigation began after suspicious accounts were flagged on the portals of the Government of India and the Government of Bihar. Following these alerts, Akhilesh Kumar, Rohit Kumar, Manish Kumar, and Anant Kumar were apprehended from Tadhwa Nandpur village in the Bairia police station area of West Champaran.

DSP Parashar stated, “We are receiving complaints from across the country. This gang has now emerged as both an interstate and international network. The police are working swiftly to dismantle the entire operation.”

Gang Trained via WhatsApp Calls

The accused were reportedly trained in cheating techniques by an individual named ‘Juba’ from Pakistan through WhatsApp calls. The operation came to light on August 23 when Stuti Kumari, a resident of Agarwa, filed a complaint regarding a fraud of Rs 30,000.

Akhilesh Kumar, identified as the gang’s mastermind, has allegedly been involved in cyber fraud since 2016. The gang members would reportedly take ATM cards and SIM cards from account holders for 5–7 days, providing victims Rs 10,000–15,000 in return. Police have recovered laptops, mobile phones, SIM cards, ATM cards, and checkbooks from the accused.

Interstate and International Network

During interrogation, the gang members revealed that approximately 200 people are connected to the network, with complaints registered across several states, including Kerala, Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh.

Police identified Prem Yadav and Santosh as key handlers of the gang. Prem Yadav allegedly operates the network from Mumbai, while both men have ties to Tadhwa Nandpur village. Police continue to conduct raids in search of them.

Team Efforts

The operation involved several officers, including Inspector Manish Kumar, Daroga Shivam Singh, Saurabh Kumar Azad, and Priyanka, among others.
