Muzaffarpur: Students taking admission in BRA Bihar University were left confused after seeing big mistakes in the first merit list released for graduation courses. Some students were given 257 marks out of a maximum of 100, which is impossible. Along with this, many students were allotted subjects that are not even available in the colleges where they were sent for admission. This has created chaos on the very first day of admissions.
At RPS College Mahnar, students came to take admission in Urdu, but the college does not have Urdu as a subject. The principal informed the university about this error. Similar problems were seen in Shyamnandan Sahay College, where the number of seats shown was less than what is available. Many students reached colleges to ask about these mistakes, while some colleges saw no admissions on the first day.
Dean of Student Welfare, Alok Pratap Singh, said that complaints have been received from different colleges and the mistakes will be corrected soon. However, Vice Chancellor Dr Dinesh Chandra Rai has not given any statement on this matter yet. Officials said that the number of admissions on the first day is not clear as colleges have not uploaded the data. With Sunday and Monday being holidays, the admission process will continue actively from Tuesday.
The first merit list has been released for 1.27 lakh seats and admissions will go on till 12 July. Classes are expected to start from 15 July. Students must get their documents verified online and colleges can charge only the fees fixed by Raj Bhavan. Cut-offs for subjects like Zoology, Psychology, Mathematics, Hindi and Physics are high in many colleges. But due to these mistakes in marks and subjects, students and parents are worried about their future admissions.
