Patna: The Department of Psychiatry at AIIMS Patna, in collaboration with the Patliputra Psychiatry Society and with academic partnership from Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Limited, organised the 25th East Zone Psychiatry Postgraduate (PG) CME 2026 on August 8.
The programme brought together more than 50 delegates, 100 postgraduate students and 30 faculty members from recogn ised medical colleges and institutions across the Eastern Zone of India.
Focus On Clinical Learning
The CME aimed to strengthen the link between theoretical knowledge and practical clinical application in psychiatry.
The programme featured academic discussions, interactive learning sessions and opportunities for professional networking. Organisers said the event was designed to strengthen the academic and professional capabilities of young psychiatrists.
The diverse participation from institutions across eastern India also provided a platform for sharing knowledge and discussing developments in psychiatric care.
Leadership And Participation
Prof. (Dr.) Pankaj Kumar, Organising Chairperson, led the programme, while Prof. (Dr.) Nupur Niharika, Organising Co-Chairperson, provided guidance throughout the event.
Dr. Sambhu Prasad, Organising Co-Secretary, and Archana Singh, Co-Secretary, supported the planning and execution of the programme. Dr. Sujit Sarkhel and Vipin Kumar also contributed to the academic sessions.
Dr. Uday Kumar Sinha, President of the Indian Psychiatric Society, East Zone, attended as the Guest of Honour and addressed participants on academic excellence and compassionate patient care.
Emphasis On Evidence-Based Practice
Prof. (Dr.) Raju Agarwal, Executive Director of AIIMS Patna, was the Chief Guest. He emphasised the importance of continuous learning, evidence-based clinical practice and professional excellence in psychiatry.
Agarwal also reiterated support for strengthening academic activities and creating opportunities for professional development among young medical professionals.
The organisers said the CME strengthened academic collaboration among psychiatric institutions in the Eastern Zone and provided postgraduate students and faculty members with opportunities for scientific exchange and knowledge sharing.
