Women’s Ganga River Rafting Expedition 2024 Arrives in Patna

Patna: Patna’s NIT Ghat came alive on Tuesday, as the All-Women Ganga River Rafting Expedition 2024 reached the city as part of their journey from Gangotri to Ganga Sagar. The event, organized under the National Clean Ganga Mission and the Ministry of Jal Shakti in collaboration with Bihar’s Urban Development and Housing Department, aims to promote women’s empowerment and the importance of cleaning and preserving the Ganga.

The expedition, comprising a 20-member team led by Sub-Inspector Priya Meena, began their voyage on November 2 and is scheduled to conclude on December 24. The Patna leg of the journey, running from December 3 to 5, is hosted by the District Administration, Patna, under the Namami Gange initiative.

The team was welcomed at NIT Ghat by Additional Collector Special, Patna, Ravindra Kumar Diwakar, and District Project Officer, Namami Gange, Deependra Mani. On behalf of the district administration, the officials greeted the team with garlands, bouquets, and Namami Gange T-shirts.

The expedition symbolizes a dual mission: advocating for women’s empowerment and raising awareness about the cleanliness and purity of the Ganga River. Speaking on the occasion, the officials emphasized the significance of the expedition in connecting communities and fostering a deeper sense of responsibility toward the environment and women’s leadership.
