Patna: Traffic Diverted for Diwali Market Near High Court to Alleviate Congestion
Patna: In anticipation of the customary traffic chaos during Diwali festivities on Bailey Road in Patna High Court area, authorities have implemented a diversion plan for tempos and e-rickshaws. The move aims to provide relief to the public and address the perennial issue of jams that plague the vicinity each year due to the market set up in front of Patna Women’s College ahead of Diwali festval.
To mitigate the potential gridlock this Diwali season, tempos and e-rickshaws have been rerouted from Dumra Chowki towards the airport. This diversion is expected to ease the flow of traffic near High Court, where an influx of shops during the festival often leads to congestion. As a result, tempos and e-rickshaws will not operate from Dumra Chowki towards Bailey Road for today and tomorrow.
The diversion strategy was initially tested on Dhanteras, a day preceding Diwali, as an experimental effort to ensure a smoother traffic experience in Patna. The trial run demonstrated a noticeable improvement in traffic flow to some extent. Encouraged by this success, authorities have decided to maintain the diverted route for both Chhoti Diwali and Badi Diwali.
