DM Patna Reviews Work of District Child Protection Unit and Directs Key Actions

Patna: District Magistrate Chandrashekhar Singh reviewed the functioning of the District Child Protection Unit and issued directives to improve its operations. The Assistant Director of the Unit informed that 11 child care institutes are currently operational in the district, all of which are subject to regular inspections.

The District Magistrate emphasized the need for consistent monitoring of these child care institutes. He directed that all homes be inspected at least once a month by an officer, and a detailed statement of inspections, including the names of inspecting officials, should be presented in the next review meeting. The District Inspection Committee had completed inspections of all child care institutes in the district this month.

While reviewing the Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana, it was found that 214 applications remained pending at the block level. The DM instructed the Assistant Director to coordinate with the concerned Block Development Officers to ensure the swift resolution of these pending applications.

The DM also directed the organization of training and orientation programs for child welfare police officers posted in all police stations under Patna district. Additionally, he instructed the establishment of a dialogue between beneficiaries of the PM Care for Children Scheme and the District Magistrate to strengthen engagement and oversight.
