Drone Survey for New Bhagalpur Terminal in Bihar, Report on Four Halts Sent to Railway Headquarters
Bhagalpur: A drone survey is underway for the proposed New Bhagalpur terminal station in Jagdishpur. The survey is assessing the feasibility of railway land in the area. A seven-member team is conducting inspections at Jagdishpur halt, preparing reports on soil and water testing. The project is part of the Final Location Survey, and a detailed project report (DPR) is being prepared for the new terminal.
The Noida-based agency leading the survey is examining hundreds of bighas of railway land at Jagdishpur halt. At present, there is no proper road access to the halt, with passengers relying on an unpaved road. Plans for the terminal include two island platforms, one passenger platform, six reception-cum-dispatch lines, and four loop lines. Additionally, two 600-meter-long stabling lines, an automatic coach washing facility, and electronic interlocking systems are part of the proposed developments.
Nearby stations will also be upgraded to block huts, and their files have been sent to the zone headquarters. The hydrography and soil testing required for these works are currently in progress. The Malda division has sent a proposal to the Eastern Railway headquarters to convert four halts—Kurmahat, Gonudham, Panjwara, and Gangwara—into Intermediate Block Stations (IBS).
These block stations will be staffed by railway employees to ensure smooth operations. Malda Division Railway Manager Manish Kumar Gupta confirmed that the proposals for these four locations have been submitted to the headquarters, emphasizing the importance of developing this infrastructure to improve railway connectivity.
