Patna: Kameshwar Chaupal, a trustee of the Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust and former member of the Bihar Legislative Council, has died at the age of 68. He passed away at Delhi’s Sir Ganga Ram Hospital after a prolonged illness.
Born on April 24, 1956, in a remote village in Bihar’s Supaul district, Chaupal was a prominent figure in the Ram Janmabhoomi movement. In 1989, he laid the first foundation stone for the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, earning him the title of ‘First Kar Sevak’.
A member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Chaupal served in the Bihar Legislative Council from 2002 to 2014. He was also the sole Dalit member of the Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, reflecting his commitment to inclusive representation within the movement.
