Patna :The Danapur-Patliputra stretch of the Patna Metro project is facing a three-year delay, with its new completion deadline set for September 2030.
The 7.39-km section was originally scheduled to be completed by September 2027. However, around 70% of the work has been completed so far, leading to the revised deadline.
Elevated Stations Under Construction
Construction is currently underway at the elevated stations at Danapur, Saguna Mor and RPS Mor.
Work between RPS Mor and Patliputra station is also continuing, with slab installation and station construction still pending.
After this work is completed, a ramp will be constructed between Patliputra and Rukanpura to connect the elevated section with the underground tunnel.
Metro PRO Archana Khushi said civil construction work is in progress. Once the civil work is completed, work on escalators, lifts and other station facilities will be taken up at a faster pace.
Patna Metro Network To Cover 32.5 Km
The Patna Metro project is planned as a 32.5-km network between Patna City and Danapur.
The network is divided into two corridors. Corridor-1 is 17.93 km long, while Corridor-2 covers 14.55 km.
Corridor-1 includes 7.39 km of elevated track and 10.54 km of underground track. Corridor-2 will have 6.63 km of elevated track and 7.92 km of underground track.
At present, metro services are operating on 6.2 km of the network, covering ISBT, Zero Mile, Bhoothnath and Malahi Pakri stations.
Rajendra Nagar, Patna Junction Work
Other parts of the project are also moving towards key construction milestones.
Finishing work at the Rajendra Nagar and Patna Junction Metro stations is expected to begin from the new year. A three-level underground station is planned near Patna Junction, which will serve as an underground interchange station.
The first interchange station at Khemnichak is now targeted to become operational by December. Its earlier target was October, but the deadline has been extended by two months due to delays in construction.
Khemnichak-Mithapur Section
The 3.1-km elevated section between Khemnichak and Mithapur is targeted to begin metro operations by June 2027.
Meanwhile, the ramp between Rajendra Nagar and Malahi Pakri is expected to be completed by December.
With different sections progressing at different stages, the Patna Metro network is expected to become operational in phases as construction continues on the remaining elevated and underground stretches.
