Patna: Patna District Transport Office has issued notices to 2,500 vehicle owners who have been challaned more than ten times, questioning why their driving licenses should not be canceled.
District Transport Officer Upendra Kumar Pal stated that the traffic police had recommended license cancellation for those repeatedly violating traffic rules. Names and addresses of such offenders were identified, and notices have been sent.
“If a vehicle owner does not respond, it will be presumed that they have not updated their mobile number or address in the driving license and RC. This is considered a serious offense,” Pal warned.
License Cancellation Process for Persistent Offenders
License holders who fail to respond may have their licenses declared illegal.
Those who visit the District Transport Office after receiving the notice are being advised to pay the outstanding fine to prevent cancellation.
Authorities will assess why multiple challans were issued before deciding on further action.
No licenses have been canceled yet, but officials stress the urgent need for mobile number updates to ensure proper communication.
Over 10,000 Vehicle Owners Still Unreachable
More than 10,000 vehicle owners have not updated their mobile numbers, which means they may not receive notices when issued. In such cases, their licenses could be canceled.
“If you want to save your license from cancellation, update your mobile number immediately,” Pal urged, emphasizing that repeat traffic violations will lead to inevitable cancellation of licenses.
