New Road to Connect Rohtasgarh Fort and Chaurasan Temple, Rs 67 Crore Project Approved

Rohtas: In a major push for tourism development, the Bihar government has approved the construction of a new road from Rehal to Chaurasan Temple via the historic Rohtasgarh Fort. The project, sanctioned at a cost of ₹67 crore, was initially announced by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar during his Pragati Yatra. The proposal has now received cabinet approval, and a press note has been issued by the Additional Chief Secretary of the Road Construction Department.
The 15.50 km road will be constructed along the Akbarpur-Adhaura forest route, replacing the current kutcha road, which is only 3 to 4 meters wide. The new road will have a 3.75-meter-wide carriageway, with a 1.875-meter shoulder on both sides. In the Bhelli region, an additional 1-meter-wide hard shoulder will be built to enhance durability and safety.
Additionally, the project includes the construction of an RCC drain, cross drainage, and a retaining wall to ensure road stability and longevity. As the route passes through the Kaimur Wildlife Sanctuary, the construction will require a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the relevant authorities before work begins.
Once completed, the road will significantly improve accessibility to the Rohtasgarh Fort and Chaurasan Temple, two prominent historical and religious sites in Bihar. This is expected to boost tourism in the region, create new employment opportunities, and enhance economic activity for local communities.
With improved road connectivity, the Bihar government aims to promote heritage tourism and make these sites more accessible to visitors, strengthening the state’s cultural and historical significance.
